ORGANISATION

International Yoga Federation based in USA is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to regulating, developing and promoting yoga sport.
 
It is governed by its member associations, which are national yoga federations, and has a professional staff.
 
International Yoga Federation organises a portfolio of international events, including international championships and international tournaments, promotes yoga through its communications and broadcast department, and offers development and education services to its members.

Founding national federations in 210 countries

International Yoga Federation can have one one national member federation/association in each country around the world.
Organisations that regulate and promote yoga in a country that does not already have a national yoga federation that is a member of International Yoga Federation can apply to become a temporary member.  

Development

Yoga is a universal sport that requires physical & mental infrastructure and knowledge.
It is necessary to improve the level of two pillars within national yoga federations around the world to grow the availability of yoga and ultimately increase the number of people who implement yoga. This is a development.
IYF supports all members and tailored projects to spread and promote yoga. Alongside education programmes for coaches, referees and athletes, International Yoga Federation offers national federations assistance in the process of strategic planning.

 
Commissions

IYF commissions may be created for the purpose of advising the President, the Executive Board or the General Assembly as the case may be.
The President establishes standing or ad hoc commissions and working groups whenever it appears necessary. The President establishes their terms of reference, designates all their members and decides their dissolution once he considers that they have fulfilled their mandates. IYF Commissions are responsible for the details of their work as well as for how that work is carried out. They have no executive authority. Their proposals require the approval of the President.

Commissions present reports to the President whenever needed. IYF Members, athletes and officials are encouraged to submit their querries and suggestions to the Commission Chairs.
