YOGA IN NATURE – HONORING THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FORESTS (MARCH 21)
In celebration of the International Day of Forests on March 21, the International Yoga Federation (IYF) invited its members and partners around the world to step outside and practice yoga in nature.
This global initiative was organized as part of IYF's ongoing commitment to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), aligning with our mission to promote sustainable development, environmental awareness, and individual well-being through yoga.
Through this symbolic and experiential event, we aimed to:
- Emphasize the vital role of forests and natural ecosystems in supporting physical, mental, and environmental health.
- Inspire conscious connection with nature through mindful movement, breath, and presence.
- Highlight how the ancient practice of yoga harmonizes with the rhythms of the Earth, supporting both personal and planetary balance.
From city parks to deep forests, IYF members in different regions practiced yoga outdoors to raise awareness about forest protection and ecological responsibility.
This activity demonstrates how yoga can serve as a bridge between personal transformation and global action, fully in line with the values and sustainable development goals (SDGs) promoted by ECOSOC.
We thank all participants for being part of this global movement of awareness, peace, and connection with nature.
